From Nepal to the U.S.: Alina’s Journey with ADEX

When Alina speaks about her journey, her words carry passion, confidence, and quiet inspiration. She radiates the
kind of strength that comes from following a purpose. Nursing, she says, wasn’t something she planned — it was
something she discovered along the way, and it became the path that led her across the world.

“I didn’t always know I would become a nurse,” she says. “But I always felt good when I cared for people. Once I
started nursing school and began my clinicals, I realized it was what I was meant to do.”

After completing her bachelor’s degree in nursing, Alina began to dream about working abroad. “I knew people who
had already joined ADEX and were working in the U.S., and their stories inspired me,” she recalls. “I visited the ADEX
office in Kathmandu and met Kirti, who guided me with so much care. She explained every step — from the NCLEX
to the visa process — and gave me the confidence to believe I could actually make it happen.”

A Turning Point
Passing the NCLEX was one of the hardest — and most rewarding — steps in her journey. “I was working full-time
while studying, but I took the NCLEX classes with ADEX, and the mentorship I received helped me so much. When I
passed, it felt like the first real step toward my dream.”

Arriving in the U.S.
Alina still remembers her first days in America. “ADEX team came to pick us up at the airport,” she says. “Our
apartment was ready, and ADEX helped with everything — the bank account, Social Security, all of it. I didn’t feel lost;
I felt supported.”
Even with nursing experience in Nepal, adapting to a new hospital system was a challenge. “The preceptorship and
training helped me build confidence,” she says. “Everyone was kind and patient — it made all the difference.”

A New Life
“The lifestyle here is very different,” Alina explains. “People are disciplined and independent. At first, understanding
different accents was hard, but then I realized everyone here comes from somewhere — that made me feel like I
belonged.”
She laughs when talking about what she misses most. “Definitely the food! But I found Indian and Punjabi stores with
all the spices I need. I’ve also met other Nepalese nurses nearby, and we cook together on our days off. It feels like
home again.”

Looking Ahead
“In Nepal, nursing is mostly bedside care,” Alina says. “But here, there are so many options — education,
administration, specialized areas. I can really see myself growing here.”

Her Message to Other Nurses
“You can trust ADEX,” she says simply. “They supported me from the beginning — NCLEX, visa, relocation,
everything. Even now, they’re there whenever I need help. ADEX made my dream of becoming an international nurse
come true.”

She smiles as she adds one last thought — an open invitation to those still in Nepal dreaming of this path:
“Come join us. We’ll be friends here, cook together, and make this new place feel like home too.”
