A Space to Celebrate Inspiring Stories from Our Nurses

At ADEX, we believe every nurse has a story worth sharing—stories of courage, purpose, and transformation. This space is dedicated to them.

Today, we’re honored to share the journey of a nurse from Korea who made the brave decision to pursue her dream in the U.S.—and found a career, a community, and a renewed sense of purpose.

” Born and raised in Korea, I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. Helping people felt like a calling, and nursing seemed like the perfect way to live that out. But when it came time to choose my career path, I started hearing difficult truths about what it’s really like to be a nurse back home. Intense shortages, overwhelming workloads, and unsafe, rushed environments—things that made both nurses and patients feel unsupported.

That’s when I realized I wanted something different. I made the decision to become a nurse abroad, where I could truly focus on the kind of care I dreamed of providing—without burning myself out.

What I love most about being a nurse in the U.S. is that I get to do what I set out to do: care for people. I don’t have to worry about things outside of my role or control—I can focus on making my patients feel better, more comfortable, and truly seen.

Another thing that changed my life here is the workload. It’s manageable. I’m not overwhelmed trying to do the impossible within an unrealistic timeframe. Here, patient-to-nurse ratios are regulated, and that makes all the difference. I have time to actually assess, plan, and provide care in a way that feels intentional. I’m not just rushing from one room to the next. I get to learn about my patients and care for them the way I’ve always wanted to.

And maybe the most surprising part of this journey? Feeling appreciated. Truly appreciated—not just during Nurses Week (though that was wonderful and so special), but on a regular day, too. Patients and their families thank me. My team supports me. I feel seen not just as a nurse, but as a person. And I give my best not because I expect anything in return, but because I love what I do.

It’s only been seven months since I started working in the U.S., but I already feel at home in my role. I love my job, I feel safe in my environment, and I’m so grateful to ADEX for helping me take this step. It’s more than just a career—it’s the life I always hoped for.”
